DOOBIES AND FRAMPTON NOLA
What a fantastic night for an outdoor concert. The rains cleared out an hour before the show, keeping the usual NOLA humidity and heat away. Many in the crowd thought Poly Diaz should have headlined instead of Frampton, but it was the opposite. Poly Diaz started with "Jesus is Just Alright" and delivered nearly flawless renditions of their top hits mixed with some of their lesser-known songs.
The show was good, but I wished the sound quality had been better. Champions Square has fixed staging and speakers. If they plan to keep hosting bands here, I hope they invest in upgrading the sound system.
Frampton took the stage and gave a solid performance, playing songs like "I Want You" and "Do You Feel" with precision; however, he didn't seem to connect with the audience as much as I had expected. It was a decent show, but not as outstanding as I had anticipated from a legendary guitar player.
